Peradeniya Garden House is a garden bungalow in Kandy with 6 bedrooms for up to 8 residents. It's surrounded by green, with hammocks strung between the trees for reading breaks. It suits people who come to get things done: calm rooms, good desks and a no-parties rule. A teacher comes in for sunrise yoga, and the deck is free the rest of the day for stretching.

Wi-Fi runs at around 180 Mbps on fibre, with a 4G backup router. Every room has a desk, and rent includes utilities, Wi-Fi, weekly cleaning and bed linen & towels.

Kandy is the hill-country capital, built around a lake and home to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. It's cooler than the coast, surrounded by forested hills, and close to the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya.

Everything just worked, which is rarer than it should be. Waking up to birds and monkeys in the garden never got old. Chamari shared all the best food spots nearby. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

Second stay here and it was just as good. Laundry was easy to sort out and the house is kept very tidy. There were a couple of power cuts, but the 4G backup kept us online. Highly recommend it for anyone working remotely.

Exactly what I was hoping for. Morning yoga on the deck set the tone for the day. The yoga sessions were gentle and easy to join as a beginner. Chamari was incredibly helpful with everything from SIM cards to scooter rental. Would definitely come back.

Came for one month and stayed for three. Quiet enough to actually focus, which is what I needed. Chamari took us to the local market and cooked rice and curry for the whole house. A scooter helps, as the shops are a short ride away. Already planning my next stay.
