Turtle Bay House is a beach house in Hikkaduwa with 7 bedrooms for up to 8 residents. It sits right on the beach, with sun loungers under the palms and a sunset view from the terrace. The reef is close enough for a snorkel between calls, and gear is free to borrow. There's always something on: market trips, sunset sessions, weekend road trips with housemates.
Wi-Fi runs at around 90 Mbps, with a 4G backup router. Every room has a desk, and rent includes utilities, Wi-Fi, weekly cleaning and bed linen & towels.
Hikkaduwa is one of Sri Lanka's original beach towns, with a coral reef, sea turtles in the shallows, consistent surf and a lively strip of restaurants. Colombo is around two hours away by train or expressway.

A great balance between work and island life. Falling asleep to the sound of the waves was unreal. A great mix of people. We still have a group chat going. My room was spacious and had a great desk. Getting there from the airport takes a while, so plan the trip. Already planning my next stay.

Everything just worked, which is rarer than it should be. Snorkelling on the reef between calls became my lunch break. Lots of spontaneous weekend trips with housemates. Communication with Chamari was quick and easy before I arrived.

One of the best months I've had on the road. The beach is literally at the end of the garden. Cleaning was thorough and the sheets were changed every week.

A calm, friendly base for a month of work. Saw turtles on the reef three times in one week. Family dinners twice a week made it easy to get to know everyone. Chamari was incredibly helpful with everything from SIM cards to scooter rental. Highly recommend it for anyone working remotely.

Chamari grew up nearby and opened Turtle Bay House in 2024. Chamari lives on site and is happy to help with scooters, SIM cards and the best rice and curry in town.
