Lovely place with a really good crowd. Falling asleep to the sound of the waves was unreal. Whenever something broke, Shifana had it fixed the same day. Highly recommend it for anyone working remotely.

Salt Tide House is a beach house in Arugam Bay with 5 bedrooms for up to 6 residents. Boards hang by the gate and most residents are in the water before breakfast. It sits right on the beach, with sun loungers under the palms and a sunset view from the terrace. There's always something on: market trips, sunset sessions, weekend road trips with housemates.
Wi-Fi runs at around 80 Mbps, with a 4G backup router. Every room has a desk, and rent includes utilities, Wi-Fi, weekly cleaning and bed linen & towels.
Arugam Bay is the east coast's surf town: a long crescent of sand, a string of point breaks within a short tuk-tuk ride, and lagoons where elephants come to graze in the evening. The main surf season runs from about April to October, when the town is at its liveliest.

Felt at home from the first evening. Lots of spontaneous weekend trips with housemates. The beach is literally at the end of the garden. Shifana checks in without ever being in the way. Big thanks to everyone in the house.

Came for one month and stayed for three. Family dinners twice a week made it easy to get to know everyone. Communication with Shifana was quick and easy before I arrived. Can't wait to come back next season.

Everything just worked, which is rarer than it should be. The kitchen is well stocked and there is plenty of fridge space. There were a couple of power cuts, but the 4G backup kept us online.

A calm, friendly base for a month of work. Rooms are simple but comfortable, with good mattresses. The kitchen gets busy at dinner time, but people are good about cleaning up. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

A great balance between work and island life. Perfect for intermediate surfers, and beginners get lessons right out front. Shifana shared all the best food spots nearby.

A really well-run house. Boards on site and a break five minutes away, so I surfed almost every morning. The surf guiding was a highlight: Shifana knows which break works on which tide. Shifana was incredibly helpful with everything from SIM cards to scooter rental. Would definitely come back.

Booked on a whim and so glad I did. A great mix of people. We still have a group chat going. My room was clean, bright and quiet.

Shifana grew up nearby and opened Salt Tide House in 2018. Expect a warm welcome from Shifana, a WhatsApp group with your housemates and plenty of local tips.
