Calm Bay House is a beach house in Pasikudah with 5 bedrooms for up to 6 residents. It sits right on the beach, with sun loungers under the palms and a sunset view from the terrace. Breakfasts are fresh and local, and there's a massage room for slow Sundays. Quiet hours start at 10pm and the work area stays phone-call free.

Wi-Fi runs at around 50 Mbps, with a 4G backup router. Every room has a desk, and rent includes utilities, Wi-Fi, weekly cleaning and bed linen & towels.

Pasikudah is a wide, shallow bay on the east coast where you can wade far out into calm, turquoise water. It's quiet and uncrowded, and the best weather runs from about May to September.

One of the best months I've had on the road. Falling asleep to the sound of the waves was unreal. Kumaran shared all the best food spots nearby. Getting there from the airport takes a while, so plan the trip. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

Booked on a whim and so glad I did. The beach is literally at the end of the garden. Whenever something broke, Kumaran had it fixed the same day. The kitchen gets busy at dinner time, but people are good about cleaning up.

Everything just worked, which is rarer than it should be. Kumaran took us to the local market and cooked rice and curry for the whole house. Can't wait to come back next season.

A great balance between work and island life. The whole place has a calm, restorative feel. Healthy breakfasts and a slower pace were exactly what I needed. Kumaran was incredibly helpful with everything from SIM cards to scooter rental.
