Kabalana Commons is a villa in Ahangama with 8 bedrooms for up to 8 residents. The house runs surf guiding three mornings a week and knows which break works on which tide. The work room has proper desks, monitors on request and a phone booth, so nobody takes calls in the kitchen. Twice a week the house cooks together, and Friday is sunset drinks with the whole crew.
Wi-Fi runs at around 260 Mbps on fibre, with a 4G backup router and backup power for outages. Every room has a desk, and rent includes utilities, Wi-Fi, weekly cleaning and bed linen & towels.
Ahangama is the stretch of coast between Galle and Weligama where many remote workers end up staying for months. It has reef and point breaks, good cafés and coworking spaces, and stilt fishermen still work the shallows nearby. The surf season runs from about November to April.
