About this coliving

Jungle Desk Ahangama is an eco lodge in Ahangama with 5 bedrooms for up to 5 residents. Monkeys, kingfishers and the odd peacock are regular visitors to the garden. The work room has proper desks, monitors on request and a phone booth, so nobody takes calls in the kitchen. A teacher comes in for sunrise yoga, and the deck is free the rest of the day for stretching.

Wi-Fi runs at around 110 Mbps, with a 4G backup router and backup power for outages. Every room has a desk, and rent includes utilities, Wi-Fi, weekly cleaning and bed linen & towels.

Ahangama is the stretch of coast between Galle and Weligama where many remote workers end up staying for months. It has reef and point breaks, good cafés and coworking spaces, and stilt fishermen still work the shallows nearby. The surf season runs from about November to April.

Lovely place with a really good crowd. Rooms are simple but comfortable, with good mattresses.

I arrived knowing nobody and left with a group of friends. The kitchen is well stocked and there is plenty of fridge space.

One of the best months I've had on the road. Surrounded by green and very relaxing. Ishara shared all the best food spots nearby. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

Exactly what I was hoping for. I had calls with Europe every evening and the Wi-Fi never dropped once. The yoga sessions were gentle and easy to join as a beginner. My room was spacious and had a great desk. Big thanks to everyone in the house.

A really well-run house. Communication with Ishara was quick and easy before I arrived. A scooter helps, as the shops are a short ride away. Thanks for a wonderful month!

A calm, friendly base for a month of work. Desks by the window and a backup router meant zero downtime. The coworking room is properly set up: good chairs, monitors and a quiet booth for calls. Whenever something broke, Ishara had it fixed the same day. Highly recommend it for anyone working remotely.

Came for one month and stayed for three. Morning yoga on the deck set the tone for the day. Cleaning was thorough and the sheets were changed every week. Can't wait to come back next season.

Everything just worked, which is rarer than it should be. Ishara sorted out an airport pickup and a local SIM before I even landed. The walls are thin, so earplugs help.

Felt at home from the first evening. Waking up to birds and monkeys in the garden never got old. Laundry was easy to sort out and the house is kept very tidy. Would definitely come back.

Second stay here and it was just as good. Ishara checks in without ever being in the way.

Booked on a whim and so glad I did. Ishara and the team made everyone feel welcome.

A great balance between work and island life. Ishara took us to the local market and cooked rice and curry for the whole house. Hot water was a bit hit-and-miss during my stay. Already planning my next stay.
