About this coliving

Island View Residence is a villa in Weligama with 8 bedrooms for up to 9 residents. The garden opens straight onto the sand, so the sea is the soundtrack to every call. A pool in the shaded garden is where most working days end. The pace is slow on purpose: healthy food, a massage room and plenty of shade.

Wi-Fi runs at around 90 Mbps, with a 4G backup router. Every room has a desk, and rent includes utilities, Wi-Fi, weekly cleaning and bed linen & towels.

Weligama's wide, sandy bay has some of the most forgiving waves in Sri Lanka, which makes it a favourite place to learn to surf. Galle is under an hour away by car, and the south coast surf season runs from about November to April.

Exactly what I was hoping for. The beach is literally at the end of the garden. Cleaning was thorough and the sheets were changed every week. A scooter helps, as the shops are a short ride away. Highly recommend it for anyone working remotely.

Second stay here and it was just as good. The pool after a long day of calls was the best part. My room was spacious and had a great desk. Would definitely come back.

A really well-run house. The whole place has a calm, restorative feel. Healthy breakfasts and a slower pace were exactly what I needed. Roshan was incredibly helpful with everything from SIM cards to scooter rental.

One of the best months I've had on the road. Falling asleep to the sound of the waves was unreal. Late-afternoon swims in the pool became a ritual. Roshan took us to the local market and cooked rice and curry for the whole house. Big thanks to everyone in the house.
