About this coliving

Blue Whale House is a guesthouse in Mirissa with 7 bedrooms for up to 10 residents. It sits right on the beach, with sun loungers under the palms and a sunset view from the terrace. It's one of the easiest ways to stay longer without blowing the budget. Twice a week the house cooks together, and Friday is sunset drinks with the whole crew.

Wi-Fi runs at around 80 Mbps, with a 4G backup router. Every room has a desk, and rent includes utilities, Wi-Fi, weekly cleaning and bed linen & towels.

Mirissa is a small beach town known for whale watching: blue whales pass offshore from roughly November to April. There's a sheltered swimming beach, a palm-topped headland everyone photographs, and plenty of places to eat along the bay.

One of the best months I've had on the road. Whenever something broke, Kasun had it fixed the same day. Already planning my next stay.

I arrived knowing nobody and left with a group of friends. Lots of spontaneous weekend trips with housemates. Very fair price for what you get, with utilities, cleaning and Wi-Fi included. Kasun checks in without ever being in the way. A scooter helps, as the shops are a short ride away.

A great balance between work and island life. The beach is literally at the end of the garden. Family dinners twice a week made it easy to get to know everyone. Kasun shared all the best food spots nearby. The walls are thin, so earplugs help. Big thanks to everyone in the house.

A really well-run house. Falling asleep to the sound of the waves was unreal. My room was clean, bright and quiet. Only downside: the road outside can be noisy in the morning.

Everything just worked, which is rarer than it should be. Kasun and the team made everyone feel welcome. Thanks for a wonderful month!

Felt at home from the first evening. Great value for a long stay. Kasun was incredibly helpful with everything from SIM cards to scooter rental. Highly recommend it for anyone working remotely.

Second stay here and it was just as good. Kasun sorted out an airport pickup and a local SIM before I even landed.

Booked on a whim and so glad I did. The kitchen is well stocked and there is plenty of fridge space. Getting there from the airport takes a while, so plan the trip.

A calm, friendly base for a month of work. A great mix of people. We still have a group chat going. The common areas are spotless and there is always somewhere quiet to work. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

Exactly what I was hoping for. Laundry was easy to sort out and the house is kept very tidy. Would definitely come back.

Came for one month and stayed for three. Communication with Kasun was quick and easy before I arrived. Can't wait to come back next season.
